Goal

Add a feature to aid site navigation.

Scope of Work

To improve usability of the city's Web site without changing core navigational elements, I created an A-to-Z directory. Instead of just an outline of the site's information architecture, the directory was user-centric and focused on commonly requested Webmaster inquiries, popular pages, and other topics.

I began the project with a strong understanding of what items should be included. I outlined and organized my own lists of topics and then explored the site maps and directories on other government Web sites. Before launching the page, I sought the input of citywide content editors who helped identify discrepancies and omissions.

It quickly became one of the top twenty pages on the site.
